Environmetals LLC emerged in 2011 through the visionary leadership of Robert Sharkey, who, after a tenure in the nuclear industry, aspired to establish a venture dedicated to safely handling zirconium while fostering a culture of care and consideration for suppliers and customers.

The roots of Robert's metallurgical expertise extend into history, tracing back to the 1600s when his great-grandparents, William Fownes, an Iron master, and his wife Elizabeth Spencer, operated the Wortley Forge. Located in Wortley England.

Today, Environmetals resides in Ashaway, Rhode Island, and remains a family-run enterprise, jointly owned and operated by Robert and his son, Michael. Environmetals is the foremost global procurer and distributor of recycled zirconium, while also specializing in other minor metals such as hafnium, titanium, and niobium.
